Week In Review

This past week was full of highlights.  On Monday, I attended the Kentucky Board of Education’s Charter School Study Session.  It was informative with several themes emerging including types of charters, role and function of charter authorizers, funding for charter schools, charter school accountability and flexibility/autonomy, and whether or not charters have been successful at closing and/or eliminating achievement gap.  Please find links to news articles from this meeting below:

On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of speaking at the Kiwanis Club of Lexington’s December luncheon.  It was a wonderful opportunity to share the strengths, areas for growth, opportunities, and threats in Fayette County.   Fayette County is blessed to have the support of the Kiwanis Club.

On Thursday during our planning meeting, we reviewed our comprehensive district improvement plan (CDIP) and comprehensive school improvement planning process with the board.  In addition to an overview, we engaged the board in a learning activity to demonstrate one of our goals and priorities.  Please find pictures from the planning meeting below:
