Week In Review

Another great week in Fayette County Public Schools!  Please allow me to share with you some of my highlights.

This past week, I had the pleasure of visiting with teachers and reading to classes, visiting with our dynamic school leaders, and attending professional training for our school leaders on how to better serve our students who are learning English as a second language.  Kudos to Booker T. Washington, Picadome, Millcreek, and Cardinal Valley for wonderful visits!

In addition, I was honored to join other Lexington dignitaries as we recognized and celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program.  In Lexington, we have over 200 students on a waiting list for a big brother or big sister.  We need you to join BBBS as a mentor to make a difference in the life of a child.  Get involved.

I also was honored to share my entry plan work with the Lexington Bluegrass Association of Realtors board of directors.  We value partners, such as LBAR, who understand that it takes an entire community to ensure the success of our public schools!  Kudos to LBAR!

Lastly, I would like to acknowledge the work of TCHS, BSHS, and FDHS for partnering with the chamber and Business Education Network, through the Ford NGL grant, to transfer teaching and learning, how we do school, and civic and business engagement.  Way to go!
