Week In Review

Another wonderful week in Fayette County Public Schools!

This past week, I along with board chairwoman Melissa Bacon, Whitney Stevenson, Alice Nelson, and Sharon Price (Community Action Council), served on an early childhood panel during the KSBA winter conference.  We were able to share with our colleagues across the commonwealth (board members and school leaders) our “First5Lex” initiative.

I also had the opportunity to visit several of our schools including Mary Todd Elementary School, Southern Middle School, Lansdowne Elementary School and Veterans Park Elementary School.  Kudos to our outstanding school leaders, teachers, staff, students, and families for working together to foster a community of readers!

On Saturday, I participated in the FCEA Read Across America Day honoring Dr. Seuss at the Fayette County Mall.  On this occasion, I had the pleasure of reading to students some of my favorite children’s books.  Kudos to KEA/FCEA volunteers and our families for supporting this event!
