FCPS Online Services will be offline over Spring Break
For many years, there has been a unified email system for all Kentucky public schools. Over spring break that will change. Fayette County Public Schools’ online services will be unavailable as they migrate from the state-based system to a nearly identical district-based system.
Saved emails on student email accounts will not be migrated automatically. The Technology Department can help students who would like their old email messages to be migrated after spring break.
Both students and staff should make independent copies of documents they might need during the break.
Emails on staff members’ accounts will be migrated. However, most account settings such as personal distribution lists and inbox rules will be reset.
Almost all online services tied to the school will be affected by this. This includes but is not limited to Infinite Campus, school email, other Microsoft-related services (such as OneDrive), all Google services, and Canvas.
The school district has advised people to not attempt modifying files or sending emails during the break, as these changes will not save.
Email addresses will be the same after the migration.
Email applications such as Microsoft Outlook on computers and the Outlook App on smartphones will need to be reconfigured after the migration to point to the new, district-operated address.
Until email clients are re-configured, students and staff can use Outlook.Office365.com to check their emails.
More detailed information on the effects of this migration can be found in the email sent out to staff members on Monday.
