Wrapping up the May 9 2018 SBDM meeting
The May 9 Site Based Decision Making Council began with the good news report. JROTC received third place at the Fort Boonesborough Raider Competition and five cadets received scholarships. In addition, two HC sophomores were chosen to attend Gatton Academy and two seniors received National Merit Scholarships. 17 seniors signed with their college at Spring signing day and 18 students were accepted into the Govenor’s Scholars Program. In the music department, Symphonic/ Chamber Orchestra received a distinguished rating at KMEA, and four students received the National Speech and Debate Association’s All American Award. Testing wise, one HC student placed first in Kentucky on the National Spanish Exam and there are 691 students taking 1,424 AP exams this year.
The choir’s Musical Theatre Dinner Concert Ticket Sales fundraiser was approved, along with the JROTC’s fieldtrip to Richmond, KY.
The meeting concluded with the student report by Reagan Smith, stating that students are following the parking guidelines as so many cars have been towed.
This was the last meeting of the 2017-2018 school year. Next year’s SBDM Council Members include teacher representatives Jody Cabble, Paul Brown, Tim Bernardi, Josh Edwards, Matt Helton, Steven Riley and parent representatives Amanda Ferguson, Bridgette Richmond, Kim Thompson and Chris Gilligan.
