Wrapping up the Sept. 12 2018 SBDM meeting
The Sept. 12 Site Based Decision Making Council began with the adoption of the Aug. 27 minutes and Sept. 12 agenda. The meeting was followed by the good news report where the Volleyball team finished in 5th place in Sevierville. One HC senior is a 2018 Governor Scholar and ten HC students are selected as a Semifinalist for the National Merit Semifinalist.
The money raised from the new tax increase will be used for additional counselors and emotional health support was discussed due to the implementation of metal detectors and more safety precautions. Edwards gave a message to the parents that there are now two mental health counselors that come every Tuesday who are certified counselors from The Ridge Behavioral Health System.
Fundraisers for archery, bowling, cross country, track and field, DanceBlue, baseball, and student council were all approved.
The meeting was concluded with the student report, delivered by HC Student Representative Merrick Moore. SBDM discussed getting the Freshmen more involved and comfortable at HC. Along with making orientation and open house more accommodating to families.
The next SBDM meeting will be held Oct. 10 at 5:30 in the HC library.
