Kentucky football is off to a hot start.
The Kentucky Wildcats football team are off to a hot start this season as they prepare to face Texas A&M on the road this Saturday October 6th. Undefeated at 5-0 the Cats are now ranked 13th in the country. This historic season has consisted of the defeating the Florida Gators for the first time since 1986, effectively ending a 31 game losing streak. They have been ranked in the AP top 25 for the first time since 2007. They have started 3-0 in the SEC for the first time since 1977 and the Kentucky Running Back Benny Snell Jr. is looking to surpass the career rushing record of UK legend Sonny Collins. The Cats have also upset two ranked teams that were projected to beat them by almost two touchdowns. The cats this season were projected by many to only win five games but they’ve already won five and are on track to win many more.
The most recent win came at Kroger Field over the South Carolina Gamecocks with a score of 24-10. In this game Kentucky demonstrated their defensive prowess holding South Carolina to one touchdown in the second half though unfortunately did have relative trouble on offense in the second half. U.K.’s running game led by Running Back Benny Snell Jr. performed well with Snell rushing for almost 100 yards and a touchdown, Quarterback Terry Wilson rushing for 59 yards and a touchdown, and Running Back A.J. Rose rushing for 38 yards and a touchdown. The Cats passing game did not perform as well with Qb Wilson only throwing 132 yards and an interception. Through the thick and thin of this game one thing is abundantly clear; the Kentucky Wildcats are very good.
Overall the Kentucky Wildcats are playing exceptionally well this year and are preparing to play their next game against the Texas A&M Aggie’s at home. While Las Vegas has set the odds 5.5 points in favor of Texas A&M most of Kentucky will still be expecting a win on the road this Saturday and many more wins to come. Kentucky is expected to win five of the six games after the Texas A&M game which if they did would put the Cats at a record of 11-1 making this their best record since 1950.
