Wrapping up the Feb. 13 2019 SBDM meeting
The Feb. 13 SBDM meeting began with the adoption of agenda and minutes. It was then followed by the good news report. Dance team advanced to semifinals and Cheer placed tenth at Nationals. Other good news included HC student Anna Marie Gilligan being accepted into the United States Naval Academy.
The Budget Committee discussed the budget change request from the science department and was then accepted. They also discussed the extra SCIF money and how there is an extra $13,000. With the large amount, they discussed having a second round of requests. Technology requests were also a point of discussion. The SCIF budget was then accepted.
Fundraisers for Archery, Baseball, Guitar, and Key Club were accepted. Field Trips for Boys and Girls Tennis and Y Club were also accepted.
HC Principal Paul Little was concerned about how three FCPS high schools received extra money but HC, Lafayette, and Dunbar were left out. As a solution, Little is going to meet with the other principals to work out this problem. Additionally, Little was originally told that there were enough school-provided calculators for 10th graders to take the ACT on March 12, but he was recently informed otherwise. Different solutions were proposed but nothing has been decided.
The next SBDM meeting will be held March 13 at 5:30 in the HC Library.
