HC athletes sign to collegiate sports

On Feb. 3rd, 10 HC athletes signed their letter of intent to further the academic and athletic careers at D1, D2, and D3 schools.

Noah King, the first to sign, is a three- year letterman on the lacrosse team. He plays the attack position on offense; last season he scored eight goals and had three assists. He chose Hanover College over Concordia and Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati.

Michael Fredlock was the next to sign. He has played on the lacrosse team for four years, who has helped the team win two state championships at the attack position. He has scored 73 goals and tailed 50 ground balls as a starter in his sophomore and junior seasons. Fredlock chose Berry College over Concordia and Mount St., among others.

“I am so excited to be going to school for the next four years with my best friend Hudson,” Fredlock said.

Fredlock refers to HC senior, Hudson Bradley, who is also going to Berry College. He is a four year letterman on the lacrosse team. He plays defense and has retrieved 99 ground balls and 68 take away over his career. He is a three-year starter who was chosen the MVP at the 2015 State Championships. He chose Berry College over Transylvania University, Guilford College, and Bridgewater College.

The last of the lacrosse players to sign was Parker Gann. Gann, a midfielder, is four year letterman who is a face-off specialist for the team. He has taken 606 face-offs, winning 426 for a percentage of 70%. Parker has also scored 44 goals and assisted on 27, helping lead the team to a 46-8 combined record over the past three seasons. Parker chose Roanoke College over Birmingham Southern University, Transylvania University, and Stevenson.

“I am thankful for my brother Noah, who filmed me all these years, which made the recruiting process that much easier,” Gann said.

The first girls’ soccer player to sign was Grace Whalen, a four year letter winner. As a senior, Whalen led the girls’ soccer team in goals from her center-midfielder position. She was selected All-City, All-District, and All-FCPS tournament as both sophomore and senior. Outside of high school, she competes with an elite Louisville club team called Kentucky Fire. Grace chose Belmont University over Bellarmine, Belmont Abbey, and Centre.

“The HC girls’ soccer team is the reason I am where I am today,” Whalen said during the signing.

Brett Edwards, the next to sign, is also a four year letter varsity starter, she plays the defender position for the soccer team. She received All-City honors three times, being chosen for the All-
