Acke details how to prepare for the ACT
The ACT is one of the most anticipated tests of anyone’s school career. This single test can determine one’s future. Whether or not they will succeed after high school is based on a test score. Despite many students stressing, there is nothing to worry about as the test is a breeze if you know how to prepare for it.
1.Take the ACT Plan
This practice test can be helpful for anyone that is unfamiliar with the ACT format. The ACT is a timed test that only counts the right answers, and not the wrong, so it is in one’s best interest to guess on any questions that they are unsure about. The guidance counselors’ office should have more information about these test dates.
2.Visit ACT.org
ACT.org is the official website of the ACT and is a helpful tool to help one prepare for that big test day. On this website one can register for the ACT online prep, look over the official ACT prep guide, and even look at some sample questions from previous ACTs. If you are ready to take the test you can register for the official ACT on this website as well. Fayette County schools also subscribes to a great resource through the Kentucky Virtual Library called Learning Express, which is another great website to use to help prepare for the ACT.
3.Study over ACT prep textbooks
Every person has a different style of learning, and for some people the best method is to read the answers straight out of a textbook. Most bookstores will sell these ACT prep textbooks including online stores, such as Amazon. There are copies of ACT prep books in public libraries and several in the HC library. If textbooks are not your style of learning then there are other ways to prepare for the ACT, including the website mentioned before.
4.Enroll in an ACT prep course
Many local colleges will offer an ACT prep course for students to help them learn new testing methods to potentially improve their ACT test score. Sylvan University offers ACT prep courses and sees improvement in its students in about five to eight weeks. Course fees are not too costly, and could even be free in certain circumstances. These types of courses help with student confidence and let them know that they can pass the ACT and makes it less stressful for the student.
The ACT is an important test, but it is surely nothing to stress too much about if you know how to prepare for it. These guidelines should help any student that is unsure about what the ACT looks like or what it takes to pass the ACT with a score of which to be proud.
