HC-GRC Football preview

By Alex Besten

HC Football looks to bounce back this Friday on the gridiron against class 6A foe George Rogers Clark. The game will be played at Clark County at 7:30 at the new high school. The matchup will be centered on two strong rush schemes, Clark County rotating through four different running backs. The Blue Devils are coming off a 22 point loss last Friday to defending 3A state champion Belfry High School, their first game of the regular season. The lone touchdown scored by HC was a kick return, in which senior Rhoman James broke several tackles en route to the end zone.

GRC started their year off with a seven point victory against Rowan county, but was blown out last Friday, 42-6, at the hands of Anderson County. Henry Clay trounced GRC 50-0 at home last year, giving returning players confidence heading into the struggle. HC Center Sully Simpson weighed in on the matter with the Devils’ Advocate.

“I expect us to turn it around this Friday and play the game as a team,” Simpson said. “They’ll be tough, 6A football is always tough so we just have to come out and play our game the way we’re supposed to.”

KHSAA.org will have running updates about the game along with Mike Fields of the Herald Leader.
