Netflix is a major component in many peoples’ lives thus far, and will continue to be in the future as well. To not only address the popularity and the cult following, and why it is getting so much press ( especially on social media ) but to also give a feel and a synopsis for people that are interested in the show. Without getting into spoilers and too much detail, here is a brief rundown about this documentary.

The story of Steven Avery begins in Manitowoc county, Wisconsin. The Averys are a  family that has it’s own car business and are known as simpler folk. Avery has been charged with different kinds of crimes including endangerment of an animal and even accusations of a local woman, of being publically exposed. Soon after, Avery is caught with a much more serious charge. He is accused of raping a woman on a beach. After a quick trial, Avery is quickly sentenced to 30+ years in prison. But whom a select agency begins to investigate the trial extensively, they find that evidence was not given in full and possibly even tampered with. After years of work with the case, the finally get him out after 18 long years of sitting in prison. After getting out, he goes against the state, filing a lawsuit , trying to get a 36 dollars in compensation. Almost immediately, he is put on another trial ,but this time for murder of the girl last seen at his house.

The show raises questions about the judicial system and how possibly corrupt officials can change lives are quite interesting. It raises questions that makes you think about how the judicial system is designed. The amazing amount of information, interviews and research that culminated in this amazing series shows in a great way. The ten years that was spent working on this piece is wonderfully presented and shows itself in a very impactful way, along with so much detail and different angles to come through. The cinematography and framing are all placed extremely well and the make an atmosphere that is unheralded, which is highly undervalued today in all forms of entertainment. The soundtrack is also good and gives great help to the atmosphere of the show as well. All in all, the show is a great example of expert craftsmanship.

The show “Making a Murderer” on Netflix is highly touted and rightly so. The show is just a good, solid experience that is almost guaranteed to have you hooked from the very start. Definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys dramas, or police shows.
