Top 7 things to do in Lexington


Many teens in Lexington talk about how there aren’t a lot of hang out spots or “fun” things to do/explore. Although many say there’s nothing to do, there are multiple fun-filled activities that are here in KY. Here are some of them:

1. Movies

There are multiple movie theaters around the city. Movies are a classic go to if you just want a casual hangout with friends. Some of the cheaper ones are Regal, the Kentucky Theater and AMC. There’s also  more expensive options if you’re willing: Cinemark and the Fayette Mall

2. Breakout games

Breakout games are a good place for  those who prefer a challenge and like to piece the puzzle together. Lexington has thrilling escape rooms with a variety of game themes, perfect for having fun with your friends, family and even co-workers. Another alternative is Color Chaos. Color Chaos goes through a series of five exciting games, players evade lasers, test their luck, and collect paint points along the way. Then comes the finale: they all get blasted with glowing paint. 

3. Arcades

There are a few popular arcade places that offer not only the classic arcade games you would see at GattiTown, but there’s minigolf and laser tag, including Malibu Jack’s. They also offer bowling as an alternative. 

4. The Great Outdoors

There are many hiking trails that are popular in the Lexington area such as Raven Run, McConnell Springs and .  Raven Run is 734-acre, and it borders the Kentucky River, the trails provide a place for seeing wildlife reserve. Another option is McConnell Springs. It is a twenty-six acre natural park located off of Rebmann lane and it’s where the city of Lexington was named. 

5. Affordable Restaurants

There are multiple restaurants that are affordable for teens. A few are Athenian Grill, MOD Pizza, Chipotle, and Joella’s. These restaurants offer affordable meals that are quick and easy to eat. 

6. Jacobson Park 

Jacobson is one of the many parks here in Lexington. Jacobson offers a basketball court, a Dog Park, fishing, open play fields and paddle boating,  are perfect for hanging out with friends.

7. The Mall and The Summit

Finally,  the mall is one of the most popular hangout spots for teens. The mall offers a variety of restaurants, as well as stores to browse around. Some stores include Forever 21, Pacsun, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and American Eagle.
