Lexington businesses offer special treats for holiday season

As the 2016 holiday season approaches, restaurants all across Kentucky are reviving some holiday specials to promote Christmas cheer with some unique takes on classic seasonal flavors.

Starbucks:

Starbucks is bringing back four classic holiday drinks: the Chestnut Praline Latte, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, and the Egg Nog Latte. These drinks can be enjoyed hot or cold, depending on your preference. They’ve also added a twist to their signature flat white by mixing in warm spices to create the Holiday Flat White. The Spiced Sweet Cream Cold Brew is a recent addition to the seasonal menu, made from their Nariño cold brew coffee and an addition of their house-made vanilla cream. These drinks are still consistent with the already posted prices of Starbucks’ drinks.

Steak n’ Shake:

Steak n’ Shake has revived two holiday shakes this year, bringing back the Egg Nog and the Peppermint Chocolate Chip milkshake. Both are priced at $3.69, although they come in a variety of sizes, all prices matching their usual shake values. The cheap prices make these shakes a top choice for an easy festive date that definitely won’t put a hole in your wallet.

North Lime Coffee & Donuts:

Known for their unique donut flavors, North Lime has introduced two specialty donuts to add to the holiday trend. Bourbon Spiked Egg Nog donut and a Gingerbread Donut have been added to their menu. Buy fast as these flavors are limited to the holiday season.

Orange Leaf:

While most of us prefer a warm snack during the winter, Orange Leaf has added two holiday flavors (with some interesting names) to spike interest in these frozen treats. The business added the Patty’s Own Recipe Peppermint and the Add Some Spice to Your Life Pumpkin Pie. If the names alone don’t intrigue you, the flavors should.

Graeter’s:

Exclusive to the month of December, the limited edition Peppermint Stick Ice Cream has made a comeback. This merry treat has been infused with peppermint oil and sprinkled with peppermint candy to honor this classic flavor. They have also resurrected the classic Eggnog Ice Cream: a creamy blend of nutmeg, cinnamon, egg, and just a hint of rum. The costs of these festive treats are consistent with their current prices.

All of these reasonably priced seasonal treats provide a simple way to get yourself into the Christmas cheer.
